Dr.Mary Campilii: And she made a vow, saying, “LORD Almighty, if you will only look on your
servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will
give him to the LORD for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head” [1
Samuel 1:11].
What an example Hannah is in her praying! It was a prayer born out of sorrow and suffering, but
in spite of her feelings, she laid bare her soul before the Lord. It was a prayer that involved
submission, for she presented herself to the Lord as His handmaiden, to do whatever He
wanted her to do (see Luke 1:48). It was a prayer that also involved sacrifice, because she
vowed to give her son back to the Lord, to be a Nazirite (Numbers 6) and serve the Lord all his
life. In praying like this, was Hannah “bargaining” with the Lord? I don’t think so.
Bearing a son would have removed her disgrace and perhaps ended her rival’s persecution, but giving up the son was another matter. Perhaps it would have been easier for her to go on living in barrenness than to have a child for three years and have to give him up forever. I wonder if God had given Hannah an inner conviction that her son would play an important part in the future of the nation.
YES! YES! POSITIVELY YES!
I can tell you I would not have pleaded , at the age of 41, for God to ” GIVE ME A MANCHILD
LESS I DIE. I PROMISE TO GIVE JOSHUA TO YOU ALL THE DAYS OF HIS LIFE” if I could have envisioned separating eternally from Joshua when he turned 5 years old!!.
Submission to worshiping God( no matter what befall me on earth )did lead to me being convinced my son would play an important part in the future of the nation if the Kingdom of God on earth as in heaven!. Upon Joshua’s being drowned- prophets (who did not know me nor I they), would come from everywhere with the same message: ” God wants me to tell you something . ( I would be all ears & thirsting to hear it 1 more time): ” That which you gave birth to & lost , God is ready to give you so many more in the spirit”

Inner convincing ( confirmation coming from more than a couple of sources). Aids faith as a healing balm.
